Armadillo Hoodie Review by The Scooter Scoop part 2 Thanks to Steve for doing this review for us on the Armadillo Scooter Hoodie. It was tested by 4 of his friends in Austin, TX they dropped the dummy filled with wood over 200 pounds with a helmet unto an open parking lot. They did a frontal drop and a rear drop. The results, well see for yourself
You won't need a $25,000 skin graph because at no point did it tear. The Hoodie is an awesome jacket. Available from http://www.ArmadilloScooterWear.com
D30
Protective scooter clothing can be stylish and comfortable. In the event of an accident if the rider is wearing the right clothing injury can be lessened or prevented completely.
Thanks to d30 technology, pronounced (dee-three-oh), scooter jackets and other protective clothing, can withstand impacts, and protect the rider.
The new d30 technology is used to create protective foam that is soft to the touch but is not large and bulky. Working at a molecular level the material changes properties instantly upon impact. The molecules move past each other freely during normal use, and lock together instantly when the material is impacted by another object. The harder the impact, the faster the molecules react, forming protective padding for the wearer.
Following impact, the molecules within the material will revert to their initial state, moving freely within the soft layer. The advantage of d30 protection is that this process can be repeated as many times as possible, and the quality of the garment will not be affected.
When applied to scooter clothing, the d30 protection is developed as protective pads and placed in areas deemed as of high importance to a scooterist. These pads are easy to remove, clean and put back in place.
As an additional precaution, areas of the garment will also be made reflective and be made part of the design, in order to make riders more visible at night and in general to motorists and pedestrians.
It should also be noted, that whilst offering high protection to the rider in terms of visibility and impact, protective clothing alone will not prevent a scooter rider from injury. Safe riding and common sense is also imperative, and only when you combine this with the right garments can the ultimate protection be offered.
Made with high strength nylon outer shells protective scooter clothing comes with a variety of inner liners. Available in fleece, and several varieties of nylon and polyester, they are designed to be versatile and remain machine washable.
Neither does it matter on the time of the year – jackets are available for all seasons. Due to its thin nature, d30 summer wear provides the protection as winter clothing.
Whether or not you choose to adopt d30 protective scooter clothing, bear in mind you do not have to compromise safety in order to look good on the road.

MRP HAS PARTS FOR MANY DIFFERENT TYPES OF BIKES Are you driving a Diamo? CFMOTO? TNG? Linhai? Malaguti Italy? Does your local shop not know what these names mean? Well then visit one of our dealers and have them give us a call. We are the only scooter parts distributor in the USA that is solely dealer direct and we are happy to send any potential online inquiries to stocking stores. So any consumers looking for Daelim parts will have to go to a store with an MRP account or have their store buy from another dealer that has an account with us. We also sell top name scooter brands like SN, Duro, Innova, Kenda, Bridgestone, Gates, Powerlink,
MRP distributes OEM parts for TNG (CMSI), select models of CF Moto, Daelim Motors Korea ( parts should appear on website by mid July) Malaguti of Italy (www.Malaguti.com) Keeway Southeast (Keeway, Vento, QJ, Andretti, Yamati models), CPI Taiwan, Powersports Factory Brands PSF, Diamo, Cubik (matches OEM Vento part numbers), as well as QJ and ZNEN (who manufacture bikes for a variety of scooter importers) such as FlyScooters, Lance, BMS, Qlink models that were ZNEN corresponding to matching TNG parts.
Every scooter is somones first ride, we help the dealers and consumers find those hard to find parts. Doesn't matter what brand it is, we've been doing the Chinese scooter parts thing since 2004 so we can help you find the right part.
Since January 2009 MRP has expanded by acquiring the QJ – Keeway Southeast distribution parts warehouse, the Diamo USA / LS Motorsports / Italjet USA parts warehouse, CPI – TAIWAN Distribution, and TNG Scooters.
Blog Questions DAELIM Thanks to Steve at http://www.thescooterscoop.com for sending us a bunch of leads of the DAELIM parts situation - heres our response to help the dealers find the parts.
MRP is not associated with DAELIM we are a third party solutions provider. Daelim Motors USA closed and left a lot of new vehicles on dealer floors that are still being sold in the USA. In 2010 the Korean factory stopped responding to Dealers or sending free warranty parts so its lead to a lot of problems for shops who are stuck with new vehicles.
We have parts now both OEM and aftermarket to help you with these. Korean parts are high quality parts and in no way are they the same as their Chinese branded counterparts. This company was once part of Honda.
OUR POSITION ON OEM PARTS Daelim is a fantastic brand and sadly the US distributor closed due to the downturn, GE Capital pulling financing, and several things I can't comment on. Let's just say it happened to a lot of companies this was not the only brand. MRP has acquired several distributors that closed we are not the factory distributor for DAELIM, but we welcome supporting what we can for these parts. DAELIM is added to our staple of QJ, LINHAI and others like Malaguti which are OEM factory parts.
In this business you tend to hear more of the negative feedback than the positive, the guy who has been waiting on a part for a year to sell his Daelim or the store being sued for a lack of lemon law compliance doesn't care, he's just happy MRP has the part. Daelim has tried selling parts to several stores in the USA, but let's be honest a store can't do the volume a distributor with a warehouse does to make this cost effective. That's why MRP is a good solution to this problem and it brings the prices down for the dealers overall. We sell to over a 1,000 stores in North and South America.
We want to help consumers and dealers get back on the road. SHOULD THERE BE A NEW IMPORTER IN 2011 for the brand we are more than happy to help them and work with them.
1. We do not handle warranties - we only sell the parts. 2. If you need parts we will help you contact an MRP dealer that can order them for you. 3. We strongly believe DAELIM is a quality product an deserves to have parts available for it and that is why we are investing our time in doing this.
If you have any questions or need to find a local shop contact us http://www.mrp-speed.com
Every day we have more and more dealers ask for the least expensive belt or part. We suggest you avoid all this and offer your clients good, safe, reliable brands. MRP only carries brand name belts like Gates, Polini, Malossi, Athena, Bando, Powerlink. When you see dealers trying to save $2 or $3 by selling unknowun Kupin? Powerspeed ( a copy of Powerlink ) or Sando these are just imitations, if you can't find a real belt contact us and we will give you a dealer that can sell you real brand names: http://www.mrp-speed.com
MAKE SURE YOU ORDER OEM CF MOTO AND NOT THE FAKE STUFF We get this question all the time - Chinese CDIs are not all the same. SEE ALSO THIS VIDEO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Emawf...
There are more and more companies promising to sell cheap GY6 and CDIs online. We previously reported on fake parts from China, we'll these are real Chinese parts, but what's starting to happen is that the industry requires brand specific models as more companies like CF MOTO, Linhai, Kymco manufacture in China they have parts that are not "Generic" nor cross compatible. They are brand specific much like Honda or Yamaha. So when we get emails from consumers saying " I made a mistake I purchased such and such CDI to save money " we have to say "Stop" before you buy check the OEM part and your dealer can order it from our repair manual section with real part numbers from the right factory.

Proper GY6 Sliders and Rollers Older Strada Yamatis from Powersports Factory use a KDU engine not GY6 from 2005 these units have a GY6 CVT but not the cylinder so dealers get confused same applies to the Sauron 125 but both KDU and GY6 use 17.9 X 14 or 18 X 14 rollers and sliders. = Not all 150cc units use the same 18 X 14 Rollers we have found many new Chinese units are using 19 X 15 and 20 X 12 these are different brands like Xingyue and Wushan. Boatian, Wangye ( QJ brands like Vento, Benelli, Andretti, Keeway all use standard) 18 X 14. For more advanced 200cc, 250cc, 260cc Linhai Yamaha found in RP200cc, ITA 260 VOG 260, XY 260, BMS 250, Diamo 250 and others order Scooter Ninja Sliders in 20 X 12 these are all in stock at MRP http://www.mrp-speed.com
We get a ton of questions about the sliders, if you have questions make sure to contact us so we can help you with the applications for your CVT.
We'll no word from Carter or SYM in Taiwan as to what is going on, but we do want the dealers to know we are ordering more SYM parts as we speak we are shipping them by air to help the dealers get back on the road. Consumers shouldn't have to play the price for this.
Stay tuned for more from MRP.
Our statement regarding the Carter Warehouse fire: MRP Your source for SYM - Carter and Daelim parts contact us for all your needs http://www.mrp-speed.com in the US you can buy any of our SYM or Daelim parts from an authorized MRP dealership.
Been selling these for a couple of years. GY6 Air Cooled are based on the older 2003 Honda engines that never quite made it to America under the Honda name, but are all over their joint ventures in Asia which started with the 125cc version which was copied and adapted. The standard GY6 first made it to the US with Vento the now defunct importer out of California. The original Vento GY6 Air cooled back in 2003-2004 actually featured a 52mm engine ( 125cc ) despite being called a 150cc. We sell 52mm pistons for these. You can go up to 58mm without boring the case in 90% of the standard long and short case GY6 A type engines. Some will go as high as 58.5 and 59mm so thats why we sell so many of these upgrades. At MRP we have them all from 52mm all the way to 64mm. http://www.mrp-speed.com
PISTONS FOR 150cc and 125cc GY6 QMI152/157 QMJ152/157 4-stroke engines Lifan, United Motors, Matrix 150, Verucci, Qingqi, X-Treme, TGB, Vento, SUNL, Various unlisted makes/models, Tank, Vento Phantom, Strada, Wildfire, Baron, Diamo, Boss, Bravo, Baja SC125, Baja, Honda, Schwinn, Eton, Boreem (BMS), Tank Racer-150/150T-7, Tank Racer-150DE /150T-7A, Tank Racer-150DS/150T-7B, CFMoto, Redcat, Baja SC150, SYM, Kymco, Bashan, Avanti, Dotera, Yamati , YongKang, Baotian, Vento Sauron, ZNEN
Responding to the tragic incident over at Carter Brothers we are doing everything we can to get the dealers many of the parts we have in stock for the Carter Go Karts, SYM scooters, and accessories. We don't have everything we are in no way as capable as Carter was in this because they are the importer and OEM in this case, but we have many third party parts that work for the Carter Go Karts ( Exhausts, pistons, gaskets, rollers, cvt upgrades ) and for the SYM scooters ( cylinders, pistons, belts ) we have just ordered more OEM parts from Taiwan like HD 200cc parts pistons, clutches, and more to help the dealers. NEVER FEAR MRP IS HERE! you can call an active dealer with MRP and order these on our site http://www.mrp-speed.com Stay tuned to Guidos Blog for all the news on SYM and Carter as it updates, also check the scooter scoop http://www.thescooterscoop.com
Why I would avoid buying a used or even new SUNL, Roketa, Tank Motorsports vehicle. Stay away from this stuff as a store if you value your dealers license and you want to stay in business. There's a lot of good brands working in China these days like Piaggio - Vespa, CFMOTO, Kymco, SYM and the mainland product can be as good as Taiwan or other countries depending on who is helping make it. The other guys I just mentioned like Tank don't care about quality, EPA, or meeting US state dealers laws. This lower end of the spectrum give everyone a bad rep. Stay away from it if you want to stay in business long term.
When you upgrade your rollers its good to put in some fresh variator triangle slider pieces. These wear out just like rollers and sliders do. MRP stocks the Malossi, Polini, DR PULLEY - Union Material, Koso, Scooter Ninja, and MRP slider triangle pieces. Make sure to order them in all the popular sizes 30X20, 30 X 15, 25X19, 20X15, 19X15, 18X14, 16X13, 15X12, 17X12 we have them visit our site for more info http://www.mrp-speed.com

d3o™ Intelligent Shock Absorption™ is a patented, shock absorbing material, engineered with Intelligent Molecules. d3o™ is rate-sensitive meaning that when moved slowly, the molecules flow freely making it soft and flexible. At high speeds howeverlike in an impactthe molecules lock together making the material an excellent shock absorber. The whole process is repeatable, occurs instantly and returns to its original state as soon as the impact is over.
d3o™ is also extremely low profile and integrates seamlessly into garments, so neither style or function has to be compromised. These qualities make it perfect for any application where you need total freedom of movement and excellent shock absorption.

This is the biggest problem we see out there, consumers buying GY6 and other CDIs and trying to put them on a Linhai 400cc isn't going to work same for CF MOTO its like HONDA its their design it wont work with a standard ZNEN or GY6 CDI. So order from the people that know over 12,000 scooter parts order MRP! http://www.mrp-speed.com There are more and more companies promising to sell cheap GY6 and CDIs online. The US importer closed about a year and half ago and I know Daelim in Korea fired 40% of its staff from the motorcycle side so its been next to impossible for US dealers to get parts and forget warranties. Until there is a new US import its been a nightmare for US dealers so we decided to take it upon ourselves to add these parts to our site and database. It's a lot of work, but we are doing it. So if you need DAELIM OEM parts for your scooter we've just managed to add a ton of them online to our site for the A-Five, S-Five, E-Five, S-125, S-250, Cordi, History Models and a few for the Roadstar. We dont have any plastics just the OEM engine parts to keep people on the road plus tires, lights, electrical and essentials. Just one more brand we decided to cover and when there is a new US importer ( could be one soon in 2011 from what we hear ) we will be here to help.
Some Gokart enthusiasts wrote to ask which brand do we prefer for the karts, we'll sell all the brands, but in reality certain types of rollers vs sliders work better. We are having really good results on the 400cc and 300cc Adige Italian sliders, but we get better results with the SN- Scooter Ninja Taiwan on the small scooters and atvs like 17X12 and 20X12 the reason being is the angle of the cut. Adige is a round roller with slight cut where the SN is a deep cut and works great for small variators. Dr Pulley is a medium cut and Malossi / Polini are just round rollers. So it all depends what results you want. We sell them all, but currently depending on the application we suggest SN for small capacity and Adige for high maxi size engines. Depends on the application so email us your questions at the MRP website.

Consists of the following parts: 50060T430000 50003N140001 B01090501263 50100B470000 50800B470000 This is the complete 2010 Replacement Kit includes all parts to replace the fuel tank system.
According to the CPSC, the gas caps on these units can leak or detach from the fuel tanks, posing a fire hazard. In addition, the throttles can stick due to an improperly positioned fuel line and throttle cable, posing a sudden acceleration hazard.
Baja Motorsports has received at least nine reports of the gas caps leaking and detaching, including one report of a serious burn injury to a child. The firm has also received 25 reports of stuck throttles possibly due to the fuel line and throttle cable being improperly attached, with injuries to the face and other parts of the body reported.
The units, made in China, were sold by various retailers nationwide from November 2004 through June 2010 for between $200 and $2,000. They were also sold on the following websites: Costco.com, Amazon.com, Toysrus.com, Northerntool.com, Sears.com and Kmart.com.

This was on the Scooter Scoop today. Steve is right on the money we need to spread the word and tell everyone to kick BP to the curve, its the worst run company in the history of mankind since Germany in WW2. The people in charge of BP are idiots, they should be brought up on criminal charges.
- I have gotten a flood of emails the last few days from dealers with issues with distributors, co-ops not being paid, distributors not paying for returned bikes, warranty lawsuits, lemon laws being broken, I can’t comment on half these problems, but what I will say is we will help you the dealership any way we can.
I want our dealers to know that even if we're not United Motors, Tank, Roketa or any of the companies responsible for the issues they are having we are still here to help to the best of our abilities. I field at least two to three calls a week from dealers or consumers wanting a warranty paid on a United Motors scooters. We have nothing to do with this unfortunately in states with strict lemon laws the dealers if not able to find parts or repair the unit like in Arizona are forced to give the consumer a new vehicle or their money back. 2009 saw so many distributors and dealers close that this problem has become a daily occurrence in our field of work for on-road vehicles. We strive to help the dealers out and get those riders back on the road and to help you The Dealer avoid any issues of this nature that might arise because a distributor left the marketplace.
I have watched this year as some companies have done everything possible to avoid any responsibility and not only sunk some of their dealers, but helped make the situation worse by selling retail or opening online stores for parts. Some discounted bikes after selling them at full cost to dealers. I'm human like everyone else so you see two types of players out there the guys running away and the guys running into the fire to help dealers, to expand, to grow and to make the most of the situation. So at the end of the day you can say why would you want to count a pile of United Motors parts? and if for no other reason you do it because that's what the market needs.
I have also commented and complimented industry leaders who have in a way thought me the proper way to do things. CF-MOTO USA has done an amazing job of looking for alternative ways to help their dealer network. I think people are overly critical without knowing the challenges a new upstart faces especially in a market where store credit lines and GE lines are continuously being cut. So this company has done the impossible and actually expanded the line in a downmarket. The fact that they keep sending out trucks, doing events, helping dealers with open houses makes it a brand that is still pushing. That's what dealers need in this market when others are retreating Lev, Kevin, Ivan, and everyone at CF MOTO USA keep pushing and dealers need to be aware of that.
I actually have to complement Erica Price for the suggestion last month of helping buy back older clothing from stocking dealers to help them stay profitable. We started this for stocking Armadillo dealers and I have to say they have been happy and many of them retail both Armadillo and Corazzo at the same time – one line working hand in hand with the other. Part of the reason is because of ideas like hers. Everyone at Kymco USA who not only worked overtime to help dealers out, but have dedicated their own personal time to travel (Look at the Scoot to Texas Promotion at Amerivespa,) this company has helped increase sales when sales are down. Literally everyone at that company Joe, Bruce, Rick even the CEO has made an effort to help their dealers survive the downturn and I can’t express how impressive that has been. I know Honda and Yamaha are the companies you should aspire to be, but Kymco gets an “A+” for effort in 2009 and 2010.
Life isn’t a smooth ride, it’s meant to be a rollercoaster and I have seen this all before. I have literally watched half a dealer network get wiped out after the tragedy of September 11, 2001. I have also seen the market surge with an influx of fly-by-night profit seekers during the boom of 2007. So this business goes in cycles. I might not have been around the moped explosion back in the 70s, but I will say history tens to repeat itself so we are due for an increase in sales thanks to oil. – Look at the Lloyds of London report from yesterday on the fact that gas prices and insurance companies are hedging themselves for the next oil surge. So hang in there sales are coming.
Regarding recent tragic events in the business we will do everything possible to find the cross compatibility for SYM and Carter parts. I have no doubt the company will come back stronger than ever in 2011. SYM is the second largest maker of scooters in Taiwan and they have a vested interest in the US market. They are ten times the size of other known Taiwanese brands in the US so they have the funds and the ability to come back. Carter makes an excellent gokart and our aftermarket parts are here to help.
We just acquired the Daelim Motors parts and will be working the entire month of July to add these to our sites and to help the dealers out there that are in need of support for the brand. I have no doubt that the US economy will come back, that gas prices are bound to go back up in 2011 and the dealers that remain will make a huge profit. Our way of life is unsustainable and Americans need to embrace motorcycling and alternative vehicles as part of the solution. MRP would like to be part of this general solution with parts from gas to emerging electric scooter brands.
We are working hard every single day of the week to add Diamo, Italjet, QJ, Keeway, Andretti, Benelli, Cubik, UM, parts to our website. We add to 20 to 40 parts per day, since January 2010 we have added over 6,000
new items to our website. Nobody in the USA has the number of SKUs MRP now has. So support your local dealer since our company is DEALER ONLY. We will drop ship for them so SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL DEALER.

So I just read that the Carter - SYM had a fire yesterday. This is sad news for everyone in the industry since it's been a hard year. Fortunately there was no loss of life since everyone was on vacation for the last week or so when it happened and they are in the process of rebuilding. Carter has already issued some statements saying "They will rebuild" and more than likely I expect them to come back renewed and bigger than before. SYM is not a small company in Taiwan so if they say this then they likely mean it and dealers can rest assured there will be parts and vehicles in the US market. In the meantime this is the premier brand of Gokarts in America I would go as far to say as the high end of the spectrum being of better fit and finish than the other brands on the market. So the owners are likely to want to repair them and they will wait for parts. In the meantime we do have accessories and aftermarket parts available for the Carter dealers and consumers looking to buy parts.
I'm actually kind of taken back by the whole thing. If you've seen my videos most dealers would know we were the original US importer for SYM back in 2003-2004 when imported the original DD50 and Jet Euro's to the US market. So to see this happen upsets me since I know what a great brand it is ( in Taiwan it is number 3 in production, but number 2 in Taiwanese brands it's KYMCO then SYM ) the company is a bigger company since it is also Hyundai of Taiwan. It dwarfs the competition being 10 times the size of Eton Group or PGO which are now both parts of car part conglomerates. So I have no doubt it will be back it's just a question of when.
