Note to thieves: scooters are slow
Chico PD officer nabs alleged scooter thief who attempted to flee

An alleged scooter thief was arrested Friday (Nov. 2) after leading police on a chase reaching speeds of up to 25 miles per hour, according to a Chico police press release.

The rider of a 2009 Honda Ruckus scooter refused to stop when Officer Peter Durfee attempted to pull him over near the intersection of West Second Avenue and North Cedar Street at about 6:30 p.m. Durfee pursued the scooter until it disappeared into an almond orchard at the north end of Warner Street.

The scooter was found abandoned in another orchard on West Eighth Avenue near muddy footprints leading north. Ronald Louis Zausch, Jr., 29, of Chico, was detained nearby and identified by Durfee. He was arrested on charges of evading an officer and vehicle theft.

For all other law abiding citizens, please consider buying an MRP upgrade kit, Scooter Ninja variator, Naraku gears, the TK Exhaust made in Spain and get your Honda Ruckus going 50mph without having to swap the engine to a GY6. In any case NEVER EVER Run from the cops.
