Miami, FL, June 18, 2009 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Martin Racing Performance a supplier of OEM and Performance Scooter, ATV, and Go Kart parts will now be the source of CPI replacement parts in North America. CPI is a Taiwanese scooter manufacturer whose success in Europe translated into 50,000 units sold in 2008.

CPI has closed its US facilities and distribution point and will concentrate on selling vehicles direct to multiple distributors and US dealers from Taiwan without US offices, said Joel Martin president of MRP. Martin Racing Performance is solely dedicated to wholesale parts distribution and will not be handling the scooter sales only the parts sales.

“MRP saw this as a great opportunity to expand our dealer base and to capture more of the OEM parts business plus CPI can operate leaner without the expenses of a parts warehouse” Joel Martin said. “Over the years CPI sold over 12,000 units branded under the MuZ brand until 2003, under JAG Powersports, and eventually 10,000 pieces as CPI starting in 2005.”

Martin further commented “All the parts have been moved from the Dallas CPI USA headquarters to MRP and dealers can expect to see them on our website starting in July.”

So far in 2009 MRP has expanded by acquiring the QJ – Keeway Southeast distribution parts warehouse, the Diamo USA / LS Motorsports / Italjet USA parts warehouse, and CPI USA.

The company has OEM parts for Malaguti scooters of Italy, MH Spain, RX, Loncin, Lifan, Linhai, Zongshen, Wangye, MS UTVs, and CPI Taiwan. ORIGINAL REPORTING IN POWERSPORTS BUSINESS

Zongshen, MRP Sign Agreement

Powersports Business
Thursday May 4, 2006

Martin Racing Performance (MRP), supplier of racing components for scooters, ATVs and go-karts, has signed a “Cooperation Agreement” with Zongshen America, Inc., a subsidiary of China's Chongqing Zongshen Motorcycle Group.

The deal will have MRP develop a wide-range of exclusive racing parts and accessories for Zongshen-built vehicles and have MRP offer dealers technical support. MRP also will assist with joint product development, suggesting changes to the Zongshen product line for entry to the U.S. dealer base.

To kick-off the agreement, Zongshen has agreed to provide MRP with its entire U.S. lineup, including its private-label models currently sold in the U.S. to nine other importers.

Zongshen America said the deal was designed to assist the company in entering the North American Market. Both companies are based in Doral, Fla.

“In order to meet the growing needs of the market and to make sure we expand our presence we are actively looking for new ways to keep the dealers satisfied,” said Cavan Chan, President of Zongshen America. "We are receiving a lot of requests from dealers due to the growing demand from customers looking for performance parts, and in China these parts don't exist, so having MRP as our neighbor in Miami is perfect."

“We are excited about the potential of this cooperation and the benefits that it represents for both groups,” said Joel Martin, President of MRP. Martin founded MRP in 2004, after changing the scope of his Malaguti USA import and distributorship.

Martin launched Italian-made Malaguti product in the U.S. in 2001 via various co-branded marketing campaigns. By 2003, he had built a retail base of 90 dealers and opened a 15,000 sq. ft. distribution center in Doral, Fla.

One year later, responding to rising costs in Italy, the fall of the U.S. dollar and increased market saturation of low-priced product from Asia, he felt he had to adapt to a changing market and began expanding his offerings to include other vehicle brands and aftermarket parts and accessories. The company name change occurred in May 2004.

Founded in 1992, the Chongqing Zongshen Motorcycle Group is composed of 52 totally-invested or share holding subsidiary companies. With more than 18,000 staff members, Zongshen Group's total assets exceed $500 million. Zongshen has manufacturing partnerships and agreements in place with Harley Davidson, Honda, Piaggio and several U.S. importers.

Martin Racing Performance purchases LS Motorsports parts

Powersports Business
Friday April 24, 2009

Martin Racing Performance (MRP) purchased parts from LS Motorsports, which distributed the Diamo brand in the United States, last week at auction. MRP said in a release Thursday that it wants to work with dealers in need of Diamo parts and has lowered its dealer minimums to aid smaller Diamo dealers.

“We are slowly adding Diamo parts to our Web site on a daily basis,” MRP President Joel Martin said in the release. “Having purchased the QJ distributor in Florida and the LS Motorsports - Diamo parts inventory we are in a unique position to help the industry in a time of need.”

To cater to smaller dealers that were previously working with QJ or LS Motorsports, MRP has lowered its minimum yearly requirements to be an active dealer to $200.

The company said the purchase of the distribution warehouses is leading to a change in MRP’s business model.

“In the past we have been known as mainly a performance parts source,” Martin said in the release, “but now our expansion has allowed us to claim a greater share of the OEM business.”

MRP’s business is separate from Precision Powersports, the new owner of the Diamo brand.

CPI scooter and ATV parts sold by MRP

SCOOTER NEWS.com Reports

June 21th, 2009 - It looks as if CPI might be making a USA comeback after all, although with a different distributor than originally planned. In December of 2008, Fly Powersports announced that they were to become the exclusive distributor for CPI products in the USA. Unfortunately, it seems as the deal with Fly fell thru. Luckily enough, CPI will return to America with a new, yet-to-be announced distributor. In the meantime CPI has announced a parts distribution deal with Martin Racing Performance based out of Miami, Florida. MRP has years on experience in the scooter parts market and was probably the best choice possible. See the below press release for more info:

CPI is now working with MRP!

In order to provide better support for all the CPI dealers and new distributors we are outsourcing the parts department to the new owners.

All the parts have been moved to their warehouse in Miami. The company will be doing the aftermarket support and OEM parts support in arrangement with the new CPI distributors and importers that are to be announced shortly. MRP will be sending emails and contacting the CPI dealers, if we left anyone off the list please let them know.

CPI USA will continue in a new format. The factory is working dealer direct from Taiwan meaning you can buy from our agent in the US and we will ship to you, already several dealers have started buying and splitting containers amongst themselves.

Estimated arrival of the units will be late July/August. MRP will only handle parts for CPI, as they get more information they will be sending it out. MRP will not be handling any past warranties only for the new importers, but they will sell parts to the older dealers and help you with any parts needs in the transition.

It is a factory direct arrangement now with the new distributors and dealers without a centralized office in the USA outsourcing all future technical parts support to MRP.

MRP has been in business over 9 years working with over 1,500 stores in North America. Having distributors in Central and South America they are ideal partner for new OEM parts support. The company has recently acquired both the QJ/Keeway Southeast Warehouse as well as Diamo USA / LS Motorsports in April 2009. MRP is the only source for Malaguti, MH, RX, and now CPI OEM parts.

Martin Racing Performance Acquires CPI Taiwan

Martin Racing Performance Acquires CPI TaiwanMartin Racing Performance (MRP), an American OEM and performance parts supplier, has purchased the United States parts inventory of CPI Taiwan, a scooter manufacturer.

In order to save operational costs, CPI is returning to a factory-direct format. The company will now concentrate on selling vehicles directly to distributors and dealers from Taiwan, without US offices, according to an MRP release. The release made clear that MRP is "solely dedicated" to wholesale parts distribution, and "will not be handling" scooter sales.

"MRP saw this as a great opportunity to expand our dealer base and to capture more of the OEM parts business," MRP president Joel Martin said.

All of CPI's parts located in its former Dallas headquarters have been shipped to Miami, and dealers can expect to see them on MRP's website, www.mrp-speed.com, in July. This is the third expansion of MRP this year; it has acquired inventories of QJ-Keeway Southeast, Diamo USA/LS Motorsports and now CPI USA. MRP now distributes parts for Malaguti, MH, RX, Loncin, Lifan, Linhai, Zonshen, MS UTVs and CPI. In addition, the company distributes performance parts for Athena, Malossi, Turbo Kit, Innova, Vee Rubber, Namura, Scooter Ninja and Slipstreamer.

Martin said there will be even more consolidation in the industry before the year is done due to the worldwide economic slowdown.

MRP Acquires Diamo USA - Italjet USA Parts

Diamo brand picked up by new distributor, parts acquired by Martin Racing Performance

Faced with mounting debts on a loan from JPMorgan Chase bank, Texas-based LS Motorsports, the distributor for Diamo brand scooters, motorcycles and ATVs, Fischer motorcycles and Italjet vehicles, has liquidated all of its assets at auction.

As a result of the liquidation, another company has agreed to distribute the Diamo brand to ensure that dealers continue to receive support, says Mathu Solo, LS Motorsports president.

The new owner of the Diamo brand is Precision Powersports, which will now serve as distributor of the scooter, motorcycle and ATV lineup. Precision Powersports is part of the Precision Group of Companies and is owned by Jeff Steinkirchner and Larry Cekella.

Scooter industry veteran Joel Martin and his company, Martin Racing Performance (MRP) purchased the bulk of the Diamo from the LS Motorsports auction. In a press release Martin said that the company does not sell retail and wants to work with dealers to help service customers in need of parts.

"I have had a lot of Diamo dealers contact us that could not meet our minimum [orders] because they are smaller stores, so we will work with those stores," Martin explained in the release. "We want the dealers to know we are here to help and have lowered our dealer minimums."

Solo, who, along with his brother founded the company in 2003, says that he will continue to act as the distributor for Fischer motorcycles and for the Italjet brand.

LS Motorsports and Solo were notified in late in 2008 that the company was in default on a small business loan it had received in 2006. On Feb. 2, 2009, the bank filed suit against the company saying it owed more than $1.2 million.

In an e-mail to Dealernews, Solo says the chain of events started when the company received notice that Chase was not renewing its credit line and demanded payment for debts owed. "LS Motorsports was facing the same challenges as many companies in our industry and was not able to secure financing during the recent economic crisis and was unable to meet the demands of their creditors," Solo wrote. "As a result the assets of LS Motorsports has been liquidated at auction."

The sale was held April 11 by auction house Brunson & Associates and included more than 200 new Diamo motorcycles, scooters and ATVs, a parts inventory valued at $400,000, shelving, computers, phones, a hydraulic press, pallet jacks, ladders, furniture, cabinets, a forklift, and some other items.

Dan Fischer, the founder of Fischer motorcycles, says he's going to keep his exclusive distribution agreement with Solo, adding that "Matt believed in this product when others didn't."

MRP ACQUIRES CPI SCOOTERS

Martin Racing Performance, a purveyor of replacement and performance parts for scooters, ATVs and go-karts, has purchased three 53-foot containers filled with parts from the recently shuttered CPI warehouse in Dallas.

CPI is a Taiwanese scooter manufacturer. MRP is dedicated solely to wholesale parts distribution and does not sell consumer-direct. MRP owner Joel Martin says his company supplies product to more than 700 retailers in the United States.

"MRP saw this as a great opportunity to expand our dealer base and to capture more of the OEM parts business," Martin says. "Over the years CPI sold over 12,000 units branded under the MuZ brand until 2003. under JAG Powersports, and eventually as CPI starting in 2005."

Martin says he believes CPI will concentrate on selling vehicles direct to distributors and U.S. dealers. Calls to CPI were met with a recording that suggested callers contact MRP.

All the CPI parts have been moved to MRP's facility in Miami, Fla. "Dealers can expect to see them on our website starting in July," Martin says.

MRP earlier this year acquired parts from the now-closed QJ - Keeway warehouse and product from the defunct Diamo USA/LS Motorsports. The company also has OEM parts for Malaguti, MH, RX, Loncin, Lifan, Linhai, Zonshen, MS UTVs, and distributes aftermarket parts from Athena, Malossi, Turbo Kit, Innova, Vee Rubber, Namura, Scooter Ninja, Slipstreamer and MRP's house brand.

Plus, in May, MRP signed a deal to have Motovan Corporation serve as its product distributor in Canada. The distribution agreement expanded MRP's reach to more than 2,500 Motovan-supplied dealers in Canada.

Martin says he expects to continue purchasing parts from scooter, ATV and go-kart suppliers experiencing financially difficulties. "The goal is to continue to consolidate parts from those brands at MRP," Martin tells Dealernews. "I'm not a rich guy — I'm not going to drop $500,000 on a load of parts. But, if someone is selling $500,000 worth of parts for $150,000, that's an offer too good to pass up.

"Look for more deals to happen in the future."
