Martin Racing Performance Acquires CPI Taiwan
Martin Racing Performance Acquires CPI TaiwanMartin Racing Performance (MRP), an American OEM and performance parts supplier, has purchased the United States parts inventory of CPI Taiwan, a scooter manufacturer.
In order to save operational costs, CPI is returning to a factory-direct format. The company will now concentrate on selling vehicles directly to distributors and dealers from Taiwan, without US offices, according to an MRP release. The release made clear that MRP is "solely dedicated" to wholesale parts distribution, and "will not be handling" scooter sales.
"MRP saw this as a great opportunity to expand our dealer base and to capture more of the OEM parts business," MRP president Joel Martin said.
All of CPI's parts located in its former Dallas headquarters have been shipped to Miami, and dealers can expect to see them on MRP's website, www.mrp-speed.com, in July. This is the third expansion of MRP this year; it has acquired inventories of QJ-Keeway Southeast, Diamo USA/LS Motorsports and now CPI USA. MRP now distributes parts for Malaguti, MH, RX, Loncin, Lifan, Linhai, Zonshen, MS UTVs and CPI. In addition, the company distributes performance parts for Athena, Malossi, Turbo Kit, Innova, Vee Rubber, Namura, Scooter Ninja and Slipstreamer.
Martin said there will be even more consolidation in the industry before the year is done due to the worldwide economic slowdown.
