Seems like Scooter Sales in America are doing as bad as they are in Europe.
The MIC numbers came out and this article in Dealer News was pretty striking:

"Scooters continue on a downward spiral, dropping 8.6 percent in June and 23.3 percent for the first half of 2013, compared to last year; still the latest tally is favorable to the 34.6 percent drop in scooter sales posted last quarter.
It sucks that 2013 was supposed to be the first leap forward since the recession, but another year of missed opportunities. The scooter segment needs a shot in the arm to move forward."
Gas prices are artificially low for a third year in a row.
The weather has been a crazy factor
Consumer financing has not come back unlike other countries
So it remains to be seen what will happen with the 2014 season
