The Scooter Industry has finally taken its toll on the city of Bologna.
Over 3,000 workers many former Motorcycle Industry workers are out of work since 2011 and will likely never go back to work. For more on this visit the one true source for US Statistics blog.guidoebert.com
Now at the heart of the matter is the fact that Minarelli, Malaguti, and many other firms have ceased operations. The region has failed to give any incentives to Germany or American investors while discontinuing its subsidies and aggressive buying of Italian made scooters and motorcycles ( Malaguti would sell 200 new units to the local post office every year ) Even in France the mail system almost caused a riot by buying better priced and more efficient units last year when it announced it would be using Kymco 50cc units instead of the Peugeot or MBK brand.
There are currently over 230 firms on the bring of collapse in Bologna employing over 10,000 people. If anyone thinks that the collapse of the European manufacturing base doesn't affect anyone they should think again.
